I agree that Obama has done a great job with mass-marketing. I think it is also interesting to note how much opportunity still exists to extend politics into the digital space and enact what would be considered "standard" social media tactics. On both sides of the campaign, where is the use of the historic multi-media? McCain should have dozens of videos on YouTube showing him interacting with what might be considered non-traditional republican allies. Where is Obama’s 5 part YouTube biography? Where is the McCain intern blog?
Sure, we can find numerous video clips of rallies and TV interviews but both candidates still seem to have a “sound-bite” mentality. At least Obama has more celebrity endorsement videos up.

[...] The Association of National Advertisers (via Ad Age) has chosen Barack Obama as Marketer of the Year, and I can’t think of a more deserving recipient. This is not a political post, folks, though I’m a strong Obama supporter. Even those with different leanings than mine are lauding this choice. [...]

Obama worked social media the best way anyone possibly could. As Gary Vaynerchuk pointed out yesterday on Fox News' Strategy Room, there is virtually nothing the McCain campaign can do at this point to gain any ground in social media. For instance, look at the top users on twitter http://twitterholic.com/ Obama has the most followers on one of the fastest growing social networks. Sure, it may only be 100,000 followers but when 2nd place is a mere 68,000 followers, you have to be doing something right.

My favorite example of Obama's campaign flexing its marketing muscle is how quickly they reacted to popular issues. For instance, 'Joe the Plumber'. Moments after Joe Wurzelbacher became a household name, people started searching. What did they find when searching for Joe? http://twitpic.com/gk26

You're dead on with this post. Obama does deserve marketer of the year. This campaign will have a domino effect, sending more dollars to the digital space.
